Final inter-schools debating competition on menstrual hygiene management in Torit County ended on Friday with Airport View Primary winning a trophy.
Chief Judge Iranya Joseph declared Airport View Primary which proposed the motion: ‘Poor menstrual hygiene management leads to high girl child dropout from school’ winner with 80.3 percent while Torit East trailed with 73.0 percent, Radio Emmanuel reported.
The two main speakers from Torit East scored an average of 92 percent, leading their proposition counterparts of Airport View with 88 percent.
Airport View Primary gained more 76.25 percent from floor speakers against their Torit East opponents who scored 63.5 percent.
Sandra Mary, Zero Bryan from Torit East and Viola Keji of Airport View scored 92 points each while Dominic Otege from Airport View followed with 84 points.
Hope Children and Women Foundation Project Coordinator Eva Nakidde said Torit East won in group ‘A’ comprising of Torit Model, Torit One and Torit West Primary Schools.
She added that Airport View also emerged winner in group ‘B’ of the debating competition among African Inland Church or AIC, Dumak and Iluhum Primary Schools.
Ms Nakidde said Netherlands Development Organization SNV is funding the menstrual hygiene management project in more than ten Payams in Eastern Equatoria.
Torit County Education Deputy Director Cornelio Adafa Bulang believes by their performance, the pupils are capable to participate in national debating competition to win a trophy.
