Women Development Group supported by Manitese International Organization on Monday started training hundreds of fishermen of Agok village of Jur River County in Western Bahr El Ghazal new skills on net discriminate fishing away.
Group Project Coordinator Rizik Peter says the new skills would enable fishermen to get a good quantity and quality of fish to local markets as oppose to the old fishing system that can reduce fish in the near future, Radio Voice of Hope reported.
State Agriculture Ministry Fisheries Inspector Moses Akech says the step taken by the organization is positive and would help address challenges fishermen face on the Jur River bank.
One of the fishermen, Dominic John, says the training would add more advantage to them to catch more fish to supply families and get surplus to the market.
Monica Emilio, one of the beneficiaries, says learning the new fishing techniques would help her raise income for feeding her children and paying their school fees.
