United Nations Children’s Fund or UNICEF and partners lunch a national ‘Back to learning campaign’ in Greater Pibor Administrative Area of Jonglei State.
The campaign aims to provide an opportunity to children and adolescents who never stepped to classroom and those forced to drop out of school because of poverty, gender discrimination or conflict.
UNICEF received grants of 23.5 million US Dollars from the United States Agency for International Development or USAID to implement projects to deliver education services to conflict-affected children and adolescents.
US Ambassador to South Sudan Mary Catherine Phee says educating the next generation is the foundation of a peaceful and prosperous future for any country.
She observes that the conflict deprived Pibor, making it one of the least developed areas in the country in terms of education resources.
