The President of the Republic signed the IGAD’s Plus proposed Compromise Peace Agreement on Wednesday after a Mini- Summit in Juba following a week long consultation.
President Salva Kiir Mayardit while addressing the occasion said the government negotiated and would implement it in good faith, calling on IGAD to support the execution of the document to avoid going back to square one.
IGAD Chief Mediator also Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn expressed happiness and described the day as important for South Sudanese.
He called on the government and the Opposition to implement the agreement in spirit and later for South Sudan population to enjoy peace.
Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni called on the South Sudanese leaders and warring parties to end what he termed ‘unjust war’.
He urged South Sudan political leaders to keep foreigners away from their national affairs.
