President Kiir to sign peace agreement in Juba

The President of the Republic is expected to sign the Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD’s Plus proposed Compromise Peace Agreement during a Mini- Summit in Juba on Wednesday.
 
In a very urgent note, South Sudan Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to the Permanent Mission to African Union on Tuesday informed ‘the Office of the Special Envoys for South Sudan that the government in the interest of peace expected to sign this proposed agreement’.
 
The note added that ‘accordingly the Special Envoys are expected to attend this historical event’.
 
Presidents of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Sudan Omer Hassan Ahmed El Bashir are expected to participate in the Summit and witnessed the occasion.
 
President Kiir on Monday chaired a consultation meeting of national ministers, heads of commissions, state governors and some political parties which agreed to study the agreement before signing.
