Development Officer calls for collective support to school girls

Project officer in Netherlands Development Organization, SNV in Torit calls for collective support to girls in managing their menstrual hygiene while at school.
 
Paquina Acidria made the call on Saturday during debating competitions between Torit One and Airport View, Torit East and Torit West Primary Schools, Radio Emmanuel reported.
 
She urged boys to avoid bullying girls to encourage them continue with their education during their menstruation period.
 
Ms Acidria said the debating competitions aimed at breaking the silence on menstruation and to improve on hygiene management among girls to keep them at school.
 
She cited rural areas as most affected due to lack of information, materials and help to girls on menstrual hygiene management.
 
Eastern Equatoria State General Education Director Luka Lohiteng Aribok said the competitions shape pupils into reputable future leaders.
 
The debating on Saturday was semi-finals of inter-schools competitions in Torit County.
