Tombura-Yambio Catholic Bishop expresses gratitude to the national government for releasing former Western Equatoria State Governor Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro, urging people to rededicate themselves to peace.

Bishop Edward Hiiboro in a statement said he is thankful to the Defence Minister for his straightforwardness and responsibility.

The Bishop recalls Martin Luther King words saying “Violence never brings permanent peace. It solves no social problem: it merely creates new and more complicated ones.”

The Bishop believes forgiveness is the journey towards healing the broken parts and how people become whole again, adding that it is the way citizens mend the torn social fabric of their beloved nation and stop community from division.

The Bishop observes that through dialogue and talking to each other out of love can prevent bloodshed and violence and would promote peace, hopping that Bakosoro would work for peace and considers all as equal.

He appreciated all those who contributed to peaceful handling of the situation, describing it as ‘truly a work of peace’.

Bishop Hiiboro earlier appealed for the release of the former Western Equatoria Governor Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro who was arrested without proper legal standards.
