Pope Francis on Saturday in Vatican appointed El Obeid Bishop Michael Didi Adgum Mungoria Archbishop Coadjutor of Khartoum to replace Cardinal Gabriel Zubeir Wako with effect from January 2016.

Sudan Catholic Bishop Conference or SCBC Secretary-General Fr Jacob Odwa Paul read to CRN the appointment letter Apostolic Nuncio to the Sudan Archbishop Bert Van Megen forwarded to him after Rome declared it at one PM.

He added that Bishop Didi will remain Apostolic Administrator of El Obeid until Rome appoints a new Bishop to the vacant Diocese.

Fr Odwa thanked the faithful of El Obeid Catholic Diocese for supporting Bishop in his work among them, and that it would be Khartoum’s believers to taste the goodness of their Archbishop Coadjutor Didi.

The SCBC Secretary-General assures believers of the vacant Catholic Dioceses of South Sudan that Rome is working hard to appoint Bishops for them.
