United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees or UNHCR distributed emergency relief items to an estimated twenty-five thousand Internally Displaced People or IDPs who lost almost everything in the recent violence in Western Equatoria State.

The refugee agency in a statement says the aid operation target nearly five thousand vulnerable families driven from Maridi town early June following cattle keepers and farmers conflict which claimed at least 14 lives and destroyed much property.

One of the visually impaired persons who lost his home told UNHCR staff that he ran for his life with the help of his wife and son that his existence became miserable.

He laments that he used to have a roof over his head and eat three meals a day but now he lives in an open place and could not afford more than one meal a day.
