German Ambassador to South Sudan Yohannes Lihne met with Western Equatoria State leaders in Yambio to assess conflicts that took place in Mundri, Maridi and Yambio Counties.

The Ambassador held talks with Tombura-Yambio Catholic Diocese Church leaders to hear their reports to find ways on how his government could intervene to support peace in Western Equatoria, Radio Anisa reported.

Diocesan Legal Officer Fr Thomas Bagbiowia presented a report to the Ambassador indicating that the insecurity in Yambio was imported and that many civilians especially women and children are in dire need of basic commodities.

Human Resource Manager Joseph Ziazia asked the German Ambassador to lobby for the international community and European Union intervention to save the innocent civilians.

Diocesan Chancellor Fr Diko Raphael said the church and the government are working together to advocate for peace in the state.

He observes that Western Equatoria citizens are peace loving and God fearing people, despite the recent conflict.
