At least twenty-five local civil society organizations and partners on Tuesday met in Heiban County of Nuba Mountains to address the worsening humanitarian situation in the region.

Nuba Mountains’ Humanitarian Coordinator Kukandi Kalu Shaluka told Radio Voice of Peace that the seminar is expected to help set up priorities for fundraising and advocacy in 2016 to address challenges facing local NGOs and avoid duplication of resources in same areas.

He says the forum addresses humanitarian access to provide basic services including food, health, clean water and education among others.

The Coordinator says intensive aerial and ground attacks affected Nuba Mountains’ areas of Western Kadugli, Umdarain, Tubo, Kaw and Nyaru, Delami, Abbasyia and Rashad Counties and prevented civilians from cultivating food crops last and this year.

Mr Shaluka says Nuba organizations appeal to international organizations to provide aid to civilians in the war torn areas.

Khartoum government continuously denied access for international NGOs to deliver food in the war torn regions of Nuba Mountains, Blue Nile and Darfur.
