Council of Churches urges warring leaders to sign peace agreement

South Sudan Council of Churches calls on the warring leaders to sign the Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD Plus Compromise Peace Agreement proposal to stop bloodshed.
 
South Sudan Catholic Bishops Chairman Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro while opening the four-day meeting on Tuesday in Juba says signing the document would mean a new grace for the young nation.
 
He says the Council of Churches noticed that the IGAD Plus Compromise Agreement proposal is ‘not perfect at all’ and that many points need correction to stop the ongoing ‘senseless fighting’.
 
Catholic Bishops of South Sudan Secretary Fr Charles Abbud while welcoming Bishops, Apostolic Administrators, priests and lay people call on them to renew commitment and not get discourage.
 
Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference Vice President Bishop Erkulano Lodu Tombe of Yei Catholic Diocese earlier opened the meeting with a word of prayer.
 
South Sudan Catholic Bishops meeting that started on Tuesday and expected to conclude on Friday discuss the status of South Sudan Council of Churches’ peace initiative and communal Churches relation to realize tranquility in the country.
