UN says education needs urgent attention in South Sudan

United Nations or UN Special Representative of Secretary-General in South Sudan Ellen Margrethe L√∏ej says on Tuesday observes that education standards in the country continue to deteriorate, demanding government and international community urgent attention.
 
She says education status worsens with dire situation in Upper Nile region and that crucial attention for education is needed all over the country.
 
National Education Undersecretary Michael Lopuke Lotyam admits teachers’ salaries are not enough, making them to abandon the profession and go for highly paying jobs.
 
He says the ministry is still reviewing general education salary structure to recapture and sustain professional teachers.
