2015/2016 budget passage holds back normal parliamentary sessions because specialized committees are still engaged in analyzing some technicalities on last fiscal year for proper financial plan and spending.
The National Legislative Assembly Information Committee Chairperson Thomas Wani Kundu on Monday defended that the longer it delays the better a proper budget can be achieved.
He says the war in South Sudan poses problem in budgeting and that should peace agreement be reached in August as scheduled by IGAD Plus, a supplementary budget for Transitional Government would be introduced.
The fiscal year 2015/2016 budget is supposed to be effective from July 1, 2015.
The National Council of Ministers on June 26 passed 2015/2016 budget amounting to 10.8 billion South Sudanese Pounds, equivalent to about 3.7 billion US Dollars where security and civil servants’ salaries rank top priorities.
