Yei Mayor says Boda-boda riders on Wednesday took to street to protest against lack of fuel leaving eight petrol stations damaged, resulting into shooting of guns to scare them.
Santo Paul Lasuba tells Boda-boda boys to know that increasing fuel prices would directly affect the ordinary people in the municipality, Radio Easter reported.
He reveals that petrol station managers earlier warned municipal authorities that in 20 days, if the government would not increase fuel price to nine South Sudanese Pounds, they would instigate the Boda-boda and the taxi drivers to riot.
Yei Municipality Police Inspector General Jeremiah Maker reveals that over 30 Boda-boda boys and 70 motorbikes were arrested on Wednesday and are in police custody.
He stresses that the arrested motorbikes would be returned to the rightful owners if they identify themselves.
The two officials were speaking during Radio Easter Evening Show Program while addressing the public on Boda-boda demonstration.
