Inter-primary school sports tournament under the theme: ‘Fare play promotes love, peace, unity, gender equality and development’ scheduled to start on Wednesday in Yei Municipality of Central Equatoria State was postponed due to public unrest.
Yei Town Block Co-Curriculum Activities Supervisor John Wesley on Wednesday told Radio Easter that the tournament was postponed until the situation returns normal.
He explains that the cause of the unrest was not known, but that they are monitoring to dig out the cause of the confusion and may be reschedule the matches.
The Supervisor assures about the safety of the pupils who reported for the tournament that they were kept at the SPLM secretariat and also told their games teachers to return them to their respective schools.
On Wednesday morning, Boda-boda men surrounded Yei Freedom Square and could not allow the inter-primary school sports tournament to continue as scheduled.
