The national Environment Minister ordered South Sudan to stop burning plastics, warning that it is dangerous, causes cancer and worsens cases of asthma.

Deng Deng Hoc Yai urges the civil population to sort out plastics from other rubbish and hand them over to Juba City Council garbage trucks for appropriate disposal as opposed to burning.

Minister Deng reveals that government banned importation of plastic flowers and bags into South Sudan and that any adamancy deserves police action including confiscation of commodities.

The Environment Minister adds that the use of plastic bags for shopping or whatever use was stopped all over the country.

Minister Deng was responding to CRN interview on Monday about any action taken to check plastic burning in the country.
