National Environment Minister renewed orders and fining pronouncements against environmental littering with plastics and pollution with public smoking.
Environment Minister Deng Deng Hoc Yai says anybody or institution rubbishing Juba City or any environment of South Sudan with plastic bottles, polythene bags or polluting with smoke of cigarette or carbon shall be fined 100 South Sudanese Pounds on spot or shall undergo detention in police custody.
He reiterates that Juba City Council is in charge of implementing the orders.
Minister Deng says business entities shall be fined one thousand South Sudanese Pounds for entertaining public smoking and the smoker shall be fined 500 Pounds, government institutions failing to keep Juba clean shall be fined one thousand Pounds for the first or 5,000 Pounds for the second time.
He says the fines shall be revenues for Juba City Council and County authorities to effect safe clean environment.
Minister Deng urges individuals and families to continue keeping homes clean from bushes and garbage for their own health benefit.
