United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees or UNHCR alongside partners has relocated 297 Congolese refugees from Nabiapai in Western Equatoria State to Makpandu Settlement near South Sudan-Democratic Republic of Congo border due to insecurity.
UNHCR, WFP, FAO in preliminary report about Makpandu refugee camp, Ezo County and Lasu refugee livelihoods indicate that refugees have limited sources of income although with opportunities for development in agricultural sector.
The preliminary report shows that continuous scale up of livelihood programs in Ajuong Thok, Unity State in response to new arrivals from Sudan’s South Kordofan 91 latrines are constructed, a new borehole drilled and 40 percent of bush clearing site expansion completed.
UNHCR and the aforementioned partners distributed seeds and agricultural tools to 4000 Internally Displaced Persons or IDPs and host community households in Maban County of Upper Nile State to support livelihood.
