Community Empowerment for Progress Organization or CEPO says President Salva Kiir Mayardit Independence Anniversary’s speech has failed to address key issues including unconditional release of detained journalist George Olivio, Fr Justin in Wau, and an activist of Mundri County to torchlight the path to peace and stability.

CEPO Executive Director Edmund Yakani tells Radio Bakhita that President Kiir did not talk about the new framework of Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD peace talks’ plan.

The Executive Director re-ignites the call for the release of African Union or AU Commission of Inquiry report on South Sudan conflict, saying the more the report delays the more warring parties commit atrocities.

He argues that the delay to publish inquiry report on South Sudan creates loopholes for manipulating information for political gains in strengthening military confrontations.

Director Yakani believes that the release of AU report about human rights’ violations including genocidal massacre means facts are made public to clear the clouds for accountability and justice.

The CEPO Executive Director hopes peace is possible if President Kiir and SPLM/A in Opposition leader Dr Riek Machar put national interest above their personal or pal ambitions.
