Sudan People’s Liberation Movement for Democratic Change or SPLM-DC Chairman says for South Sudan to attain just sustainable peace, the root causes of the conflict must first be addressed.

Dr Lam Akol Ajawin tells Radio Bakhita Wake up Juba Program that peace is not only a matter of silencing guns, but ending the ongoing war and working together for citizens’ betterment.

He observes that peace in South Sudan is the first priority, arguing that tracing root causes of the conflict is like a doctor diagnosing a given sickness and then prescribing the right medicines in accordance with the diagnosis.

Dr Akol urges the civil population to continue pushing for peace, reforms, forgiveness and reconciliation among communities to redeem already torn apart social ties.

He cautions masses not to allow self interested clique of people to continue obstructing peace efforts in the country.

The SPLM-DC Chairman says any political party in government ceases to be an opposition because it is part of the system.
