Yei Municipality has arrested a good number of fuel stations’ managers for organizing a secret meeting last Saturday night, following a directive cancelling the rise in fuel prices.
In mid May this year, the municipality issued a circular directing fuel stations to sell petrol at seven South Sudanese Pounds and diesel at 7.5 South Sudanese Pounds, Radio Easter reported.
The circular indicates that the price increment lasts for six weeks till enough fuel is received.
Mayor Santo Paul accuses the fuel stations’ managers of failing to channel complaints via legal procedure.
He says the managers will remain in custody for investigation.
Radio Easter’s attempts to contact fuel stations’ managements met reservations for comment.
