SPLA Commandos allegedly kill one, detain 37 civilians in Maridi Army Barrack

SPLA Commandos from Juba reportedly detained 37 civilians in Maridi Army Barrack, killed one and wounded three others last Friday.
 
Western Equatoria State Legislative Assembly Maridi Members of Parliament caucus on Monday in a press conference described the situation as ‘chaos”, Radio Anisa reported.
 
Maridi Constituency Acting SPLM Chairperson in the state assembly Bukulu Edward says a heavily armed convoy of 13 mounted jeeps of SPLA Commandos from Juba entered Maridi on June 25 at around 9:00 AM claiming to be heading to Nzara County carried out the atrocities.
 
He adds that the SPLA on Friday went to Kuanga area started firing at some boys straight away killing one identified as Barraka, wounding two identified Khamis and Jamal.
 
MP Edward says the commandos continued entering other areas including Mboroko, Matara and 7miles areas beating people and commanding them to show where the arrow boys are grouping.
 
He adds that they threatened to fire Maridi Market.
 
Maridi County Commissioner Wilson Thomas Yanga confirms that the commandos are still in Maridi and that citizens are desperate and scared, forcing them to flee the area for safety.
 
He blames the captain in charge for not complying with the county authorities including the Division Six Brigade Commander.
 
Maridi is appealing to both the State and National governments to immediately intervene to bring peace to Western Equatoria State at large.
