Traders in Wau town of Western Bahr El Ghazal State have shut down their business operations over fear of targeted killings, demanding security assurance from government.

A trader of Somali origin identified as Isaack Haj Mahad, only 25 years of age was shot dead on Sunday by unknown assailants, Voice of Hope reported.

The fallen trader was a dealer in food commodities at Jou Market of Wau.

Another Somalia trader in Wau Abdullahi Isaack Dida says their shops remain closed because they are scared of targeted killing of foreign business operators.

A female Ugandan trader Natkunda Sifa close to the fallen Somali businessman says she heard the attackers shooting while conversing in English and Arabic ordering the deceased to open his door or they open fire.

She adds that she heard a loud cry five minutes after the shooting, but could come out to see the ailing neighbour for fear of her life.

The killing of foreign traders in Wau is the second of its kind in just less than two weeks after a Sudanese Darfur trader was shot dead at Nazareth residential area.
