South Sudan government after several disputes on figures of severe food insecurity from UN humanitarian agencies has now prepositioned about 11 thousand metric tons of grains including sorghum to back up rescue efforts against looming famine.
Food Security Committee Secretary-General John Kanisio on Thursday told the press that his committee was meeting to strategize saving about 4.6 million South Sudanese across the country from starvation, Radio Bakhita reported.
Agriculture Ministry Undersecretary Jaden Tongun Emilio says the Food Security Council also targets improving crop and animal production all over the country.
He adds that the food security steering committee is reviewing and nominating additional members for the steering committee from international humanitarian agencies.
Humanitarian agencies recently alarmed the nation that millions of South Sudanese are likely to face severe food insecurity level in July this year.
