WOMEN ADVOCATE FOR A PEACEFUL REFERUNDUM

South Sudan women are calling for a peaceful referendum that is free, fair and inclusive.
The call was done during the youth march for the south’s secession
Speaking to SCR news, Awut Deng, Goss minster of Labour, Public Service & Human Resource Development said referendum should be conducted in a peaceful atmosphere where voters are not exposed to intimidations and harassments.

She added that women are also calling for a timely referendum as scheduled in the Comprehensive Peace agreement CPA.

Madam Awut emphasized that women must turn up in big numbers for registration because they are the majority.

She mentioned that the choice of the Southern Sudanese should be respected in the country, in the whole continent and by the international community.

Madam Awut remarked that the CPA was attained after a long civil war that saw a lot of bloodshed. She warned that post referendum should not cause any bloodshed
