Western Equatoria State Christians and Muslims are preparing to attend a general prayer for lasting peace in Yambio.

Tombura-Yambio Catholic Bishop Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala in his homily on Sunday at St Mary Yambio Cathedral Parish says the general prayer implores God for sustainability of South Sudan nation, Radio Anisa reported.

Bishop Hiiboro discourages fear among Christians in their prayers, telling them to be strong and work for peace.

St Mary Parish Priest Peter Muidie calls on Christians to go for a trans-night prayer on June 17 to be followed by marching and fasting at Yambio Freedom Square expected to end on Friday 18 of this month.

He says all different denominations including Islamic Councils agree to move on bare foot on Friday from the three locations of Masiya, Timbiro and Pazua.
