Land Housing Physical Planning Minister on Wednesday appears before the National Legislative Assembly to explain paralysis surrounding 50 Housing Project Units in Juba pointing economic austerity measures as the cause.
Catherine Juan Benaiah tells the Augus House that the government failed to fully fund the housing project worth 27 million South Sudanese Pounds in 2011 within 18 months of the contract duration.
Minister Juan discloses that the contractor company of Chinese origin is threatening to sue the government to court for failing to fulfill contract terms and conditions going beyond agreement period.
She says out of 50 houses designed to be built for government officials’ accommodation in Juba along Yei road, only 18 are almost ready for use.
