Western Equatoria State Information Minister reports that seven people were killed and that the government expects to discover many bodies as a result of the incident that took place in Maridi County between the natives and cattle keepers from Lakes State on Monday.
Charles Barnaba Kisanga told Radio Anisa in a telephone that angry pastoralists went on rampage shooting in Maridi, revenging for a grenade attack on the cattle camp by unknown gunmen.
He states that the cattle keepers attacked the civil population, burned houses and looted shops, forcing Maridi residents to flee their homes.
The State Spokesperson condemns the revenge attack on innocent civilians, calling upon the displaced persons to return to their homes because the situation is under government control.
