Yei authorities reveal plans to screen non-governmental organizations operating in municipality to expel unproductive ones without tangible programs and level of transparency from the area.
Deputy Mayor Silvano Ali accuses some NGOs of staying for few weeks and run to Nairobi, Kenya and Kampala, Uganda wasting money which they brought in the name of the people of South Sudan, Radio Easter reported.
Speaking during Local Government-NGOs meeting on Wednesday, Mr Ali urges NGOs to cooperate and work through the Local Government.
CARITAS Yei Emergency Coordinator Angelo Diyuk appeals to government to notice NGOs’ achievements in national development.
He says all NGOs working at the grass root level should acknowledge the fact that they work with the government.
The Coordinator emphasizes that many NGOs have their budgets coming from abroad restricted by donors.
