Japan pledges to continue participating in South Sudan development

Japanese Ambassador to South Sudan pledges that their country would continue playing a major and effective role in the development of South Sudan.
 
Ambassador Kiya Masahiko in his first visit to the United Nations Population Fund or UNFPA Country Office last week to acquaint himself with agency’s operations, emphasized on the enthusiasm of the Japanese to support South Sudanese improve their living conditions and achieve sustainable development.
 
UNFPA Officer-in-Charge Kondwani Mwangulube in a statement says the visit of Mr Masahiko to the Japan funded humanitarian project in the conflict affected states shows the high level support and commitment of the government and people of Japan to South Sudanese and UNFPA work.
 
Mr Mwangulube adds that UNFPA highly appreciates the support and is committed to ensuring access to reproductive health services in all situations in the country.
 
Early this year the government of Japan allocated 3.22 million US Dollars to the UNFPA to provide comprehensive emergency obstetric and neonatal care in Upper Nile, Unity and Jonglei States to ensure that women, girls and children receive appropriate referral services and protection from gender-based violence.
