SPLA spokesperson said one Kenyan and three Sudanese workers for aid group Tearfund were arrested on suspicion of helping anti-government militias, Reuters reported.
Soldiers stopped the four men Sunday at a roadblock in Kodok, an area the southern army says is occupied by supporters of SPLM-DC leader Lam Akol.
Tearfund spokesman Jonathan Spencer said their staff was transporting medical supplies to medical facilities in the area when the four staff was detained by SPLA forces and accused of having a political motive.
Mr. Spencer affirmed that the charity’s policy was to deliver aid to anyone who needed it, irrespective of tribe, religion or political affiliation.
The SPLA said the army stopped the Tearfund staff after receiving information that SPLM-DC people were taking medical supplies to Akol’s forces in the area.
