UNMISS offers items to old people ahead of Peacekeepers’ Day

United Nation Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS in Western Bahr El Ghazal State on Thursday offered food and non-food items including soaps, sugar, rice, biscuits, and clothes to old people in Old Aged House at Fahal residential area.
 
UNMISS Acting State Coordinator Wane Obahor says supporting the needy is one of the UNMISS’ mandates in addition to civilians protection, Radio Voice of Hope reported.
 
Justino Juma Drup, one of the beneficiaries, complains of insecurity, saying the small food and clothes given to them in most cases would be stolen shortly after distribution.
 
Old Aged House Supervisor Mohammad Isa Farajallah cites lack of health services and insufficient food provided by the state government.
 
State Gender, Child and Social Welfare ministry representative David Gabriel Francis appreciates UNMISS’ initiative, urging it to continue with the same spirit.
 
Western Bahr El Ghazal has two houses of old people supported by Gender.
