Insecurity in Cueibet County has caused fear among the people, with many deserting their homes and villages.
Simon Lai and Isaac Meen, seminarians in the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek, have been in Agangrial Mission, Cueibet County, for the last two months. They returned to Rumbek Thursday.

Simon Lai said a teacher of Agangrial Comboni School who was reportedly travelling back to Agangrial from Rumbek was killed.

Seminarian Isaac Meen told Good News Radio that fear had made people desert their homes, adding that the old women and children are the most affected.

The seminarians described the people behind the attacks as “thieves” who are after material property.

They appealed to the government to intervene and send security forces to the forests to search out for the thieves.

Cases of insecurity in four counties of Lakes State were discussed during a peace conference in Rumbek that aimed at ensuring reconciliation and peaceful co-existence among the people in the State.
