EGYPTIAN EYE DOCTORS TO OPEN A CLINICAL CENTER IN JUBA

Egyptian eye doctors plan to open a clinical eye center in Juba to provide advanced optical services.
The group known as “light in the eye” an egyptian private company is studying eye care service provision in South Sudan in order to come up with better technology.

GoSS director of eye service and head of Juba Hospital eye Unit, Dr. Wani Mena explained to SCR News that, the group established eye centers in Egypt, and came to explore if they could open in Juba as well.

Mr. Mena said that the doctors met with GoSS minister of health and state governor to discuss putting up an eye center in juba.

Mr. Mena said that the eye specialists came with equipment and operated over 40 patients suffering from cataract in the hospital.

Mr. Mena noted that river-blindness, red eye, and cataract were the major eye diseases in southern Sudan. He also added that over drinking of alcohol is another cause of eye diseases.

Mr. Mena called upon the public to take extra cautions in maintaining hygiene especially in rainy conditions.
