El Obeid Catholic Emeritus Bishop reports that on Monday two MIG jet fighters flew over Kauda and dropped two missiles in the priests’ compound and the hospital in Gidel of Nuba Mountains.
Bishop Macram Max Gassis in a message CRN got on Monday afternoon, says the bombs fell near the borehole and that ‘the Good Lord protected the priests, Brother Isaac, the Sisters, and the students from the bombs of the assassins’.
He explains that all the church personnel were near the explosion of the bombs, but students were not at school, cooks are quite shaken but no one was hurt and that some teachers who were offloading firewood in the Sisters’ compound were also safe.
Bishop Max recalls that last year after the bombing of the hospital a member of the Sudanese Embassy in Nairobi replied to a journalist from South Africa that their forces do not bomb churches, schools, or hospital.
He says ‘telling lies is part of their nature!! They know quite well that that area has nothing to do with SPLA/N. As I frequently say: “Khartoum regime does not tell lies; they are the biggest lie.” They will deny targeting a church and school compound’.
The Bishop also recalls that in 2000, the regime of Khartoum targeted their primary school in Kauda and killed 15 students and their teacher.
He reacted that an official in the Sudan Embassy in Nairobi declared that the bombs fell exactly where they should have exploded, questioning that ‘is there a greater killer and demon than such a person?’
The Bishop says ‘Khartoum should know that their actions breed hatred. The blood of the innocent civilians cries before the throne of God. These people will face the same punishment as that of Cain who killed his brother Abel.”
