Mine Risk Regional Officer in Yei says Central, Eastern and Western Equatoria States are heavily contaminated with land mines, saying they registered more than five cases of explosions in difference areas of the region.
Mawa Noel Oliver told Radio Easter in a Telephone interview that the whole Equatoria region is still under threats of land mines.
Mr Noel explains cites physical, economic and psychological effects of mines on human beings after severe injury resulting to disability or death.
He advises the people to take precautions and be alert of any suspected object.
Mr Noel declined to mention the estimated number of landmine explosions and referred the question on the data to the head office in Juba.
