Tombura-Yambio Catholic Diocese one-day peace conference on Friday ended with the formation of taskforce to mediate conflict victims and approach concerned authorities in Western Equatoria State.
Justice and Peace Program Manager Ngbiko Henry Nelson says the conference also resolved that Commissioners implement the existing laws at County, Payam and Boma levels, Radio Anisa reported.
Member of Parliament Susan Thomas Perembata appreciates the conference, adding that her knowledge improved for advocating for peace and human rights.
State Inter-Church Committee Chairperson Pastor Charles Bandasi says the forum would help church leaders to preach peace and harmony, telling all churches to unite to teach people on peace and reconciliation.
Major conflicts identified in Western Equatoria State including land grabbing, gender-based violence, unemployment, injustice and impunity, political ambitions and the presence of cattle in farm lands among others.
