The Bishop of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of South Sudan discloses that plans are under way to establish a National Solar Engineering College in Yei County of Central Equatoria State.

Bishop Elias Taban says the College is meant to empower local South Sudanese with skills to contribute towards community rural electrification, Radio Easter reported.

He also stressed that the facility will empower women with skills on development and that those who cannot read and write would become qualified solar engineers.

Bishop Taban says they are working together with Yei Mayor, Bear Foot College and the national government to realize not only solar engineering but also other skills.

South Sudan and Indian governments earlier last year signed a memorandum of understanding on rural electrification.
