South Sudan Humanitarian Coordinator reports that military activities south of Bentiu Unity State forced up to one hundred thousand people out from their homes since the beginning of May.
Toby Lanzer in a statement says civilians living in Guit, Ngop and Nhialdu were struck by violence at the peak of planting season when people need to move freely and safely to cultivate.
He calls for all forces to conflict to protect civilians in accordance to the international humanitarian law.
The Coordinator says UN agencies and their partners are urgently seeking access to areas of Unity State to assess the needs of people to respond to them in a timely manner.
He calls on state and non-state armed actors to prevent civilians from being hurt or displaced and fully facilitate the work of aid agencies responding to the needs of populations, based on principles of humanity and neutrality.
