Hundreds of people gathered at Juba airport to receive the body of a Sudanese international basket ball player today.
Late Manot Madut Bol, former basketball player with NBA team died at forty seven in USA at the University of Virginia Hospital where he was being treated for severe kidney trouble and a painful skin condition
Addressing the gathering at his requiem mass, GOSS President Salva Kiir Mayardit said Mr. Bol supported the Sudan Peoples’ Liberation Movement SPLM/SPLA in every way possible during and after the war.
Mr. Kiir said the world particularly southern Sudan has lost an important person.
He added that Mr. Bol would be remembered for the good service he gave to people in the world and southern Sudan.
Mr. Kiir urged ministers of sport in GOSS and the states to build play grounds across the states in memory of Manot Bol.
He said southern Sudanese have potentials to play any sports and athletics to compete with any nation in the world.
Mr. Kiir asked state ministers of sports to encourage the youth to engage themselves in sports to keep the vision and spirit of Manot Bol alive in southern Sudan.
Late Manot Bol will be flown tomorrow to Turule, in Warap state where his remains will be laid to final rest.
