Medicines Sans Frontier or MSF says fresh fighting in Malakal town of Upper Nile State between armed groups increases fear and tensions in the civilian’s population, leading to further displacement of about 900 people to the Protection of Civilian site.
MSF in a statement on Thursday reports that two people died and many others injured, preparing for a possible influx of wounded people to the hospital given the prevailing tension in the area.
It added that the situation remained extremely volatile, calling on all parties to the conflict to respect and facilitate access of humanitarian assistance to the people affected.
MSF teams were forced to suspend some of their outreach activities to remote areas hosting internally displaced people.
Total number of people in Malakal UN base reached over 25 thousand putting extra strain on limited resources.
