200 OFFICIALS SUBMIT WEALTH DECLARATION FORMS

At least two hundred officials have submitted their forms that declare their wealth status, disclosed an official from the south Sudan Anti-corruption commission.
The Anti-corruption commission issued out over one thousand forms to top government officials forms that declare their wealth in January.

The interim constitution of south Sudan mandates the Anti- corruption commission to administer the wealth declaration for all constitutional post holders and senior civil servants.

Talking to SCR news, Deng Deng Yai, Executive Director of the Anti-corruption Commission said the number of forms received is too small. He added that the commission is still pursuing and encouraging other officials who have not submitted their forms to the commission.

Mr. Deng noted that all out-going government officials are also subjected to declaring their wealth to the commission.

Mr. Deng explained that the statements made are governed by the panel code which states that any false declaration is an illegal offense. He added that in case of falsified information, the victim will be rendered to legal action.
