Rise in commodity prices including sugar in Western Bahr El-Ghazal State Wau town has forced tea makers to increase charges for a cup of tea from one to two Pounds as habitual coffee, tea takers and milk drinkers cry out.

The University of Bahr El-Ghazal Campus where several women sell consumable goods for sustaining their living at cheaper charges have become too expensive to deserting customers, Voice of Hope reported.

A student identified as Akech Philip says he has cut his usual consumption rate of four tea cups a day to two cups per day.

Tea maker Yulelia Augustino says some of her customers understand why they are increasing tea price to three pounds, but others continue to grumble as they walk away.

House wife Hellena Idris says she has decided to forgo tea in preference to basic food items to meet market demand.

Food prices continue to shoot up every minute all over the country where a bag of flour alone costs 500 South Sudanese Pounds equivalent to a monthly salary for a low ranking police officer.
