Lainya Agriculture Assistant Commissioner in Central Equatoria State reports that the crop disease locally known as ‘waya waya’ affected Mukaya Payam, spreading all over the county despite intervention efforts.
Paul Longole Amunyan lamented through Radio Easter that State Plant Protection officials only advised farmers to collect and burn them.
Mr Longole urges farmers in Lainya, Central Equatoria and South Sudan in general to double efforts on local food production to shun continuous importation of foreign food.
The agriculture expert says local farmers are seriously busy in cultivation following the start of rain drop in February.
