Western Bahr El Ghazal State Government Spokesperson vows not to obstruct court proceedings against Governor Rizik Zachariah Hassan over the removal of former assembly speaker Andrea Mayor Acho.
Mary Karlino tells journalists that they welcome the legal process MP Mayor has taken against the Governor and that the state executive respects the judiciary and its constitutional court, Radio Voice of Hope reported.
She affirms that government’s capability to defend the case in court, saying the impeachment of the Finance Minister being the cause of misunderstanding was contrary to the constitution.
Minister Karlino defends that it is the governor’s prerogative to appoint the House Chief Whip.
She admits that the removal of the assembly speaker and appointment of heads of committees is the responsibility of Members of Parliament.
The spokesperson accuses the former speaker of removing the immunity of three legislative members.
