After Japanese government on Tuesday handed over Immigration Training Academy to South Sudan government and implemented training curriculum on border management for over 900 officers, immigration service is expected to improve.
A statement, CRN obtained says South Sudan law enforcement officers are already trained in detecting human trafficking, forged documents, basic information technology skills, overall migration management and policy principles.
Japanese government provision of equipment and appropriate specialized training is expected to assist the government to fulfill law enforcement duties and facilitate movement of persons and goods across the borders with safety and dignity.
Japan constructed and equipped eight South Sudan border posts along neighbouring countries of Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo and Central Africa Republic.
The Border Control and Management project launched in August 2012 cost 5.4 million US Dollars.
