Tonj East County Commissioner of Warrap State requested businessmen and people of good will to fill the market with food commodities before heavy rains start to help the population from the looming hunger.
Madhool Chol Thuc told Radio Don Bosco in a telephone interview on Tuesday that the food quantities are low in markets compared to demand of people, adding that they resolved to reduce taxation on commodities to five percent.
He disclosed that they are discussing means with Tonj south counterpart to construct the road linking Tonj East with Tonj South.
Commissioner Madhool assured that the general security situation of Tonj East is normal and that they are peacefully coexisting with their neighboring counties.
He urged Tonj East communities to cultivate more food crops during the rainy season in order to have surplus in the next season.
