UNMISS receives new Deputy Chief

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS announced the arrival of Moustapha Soumaré of Mali as the new Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General or SRSG on political affairs.
 
In a statement, UNMISS said Mr Soumaré brings a wealth of experience in UN peacekeeping operations, humanitarian affairs and development work.
 
Before joining UNMISS, he served as the Deputy SRSG for the UN Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo starting in October 2012.
 
Mr Soumaré also held the posts of UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator and Resident Representative of the UN Development Programme.
 
He was the Deputy SRSG for Recovery and Governance in the UN peacekeeping Mission in Liberia from 2009 to 2012.
 
In 2007 Mr Soumaré was named Deputy Assistant Administrator of the UN Development Programme and Deputy Regional Director of the Regional Bureau for Africa at UN headquarters in New York.
