World Council of Churches or WCC General-Secretary told United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS Chief that churches in the country speak on behalf of the people, calling leaders to make peace.
In a statement CRN obtained, Reverend Dr Olav Fykse Tveit met Ellen Margrethe L√∏ej in Geneva, Switzerland reiterating WCC commitment to work with the UN to undertake new initiatives to support peace negotiations.
The UNMISS Chief said the meeting held on March 25 encourages South Sudan warring parties to contribute to the achievement of peace agreement for the benefit of citizens.
